Get name from email address

Hi,

Is there any way that from an e-mail address I could get the name (first & last) that the owner of this address has given to the e-mail provider without having him to send me an e-mail ?

Maybe by somehow contacting the SMTP of the provided and issuing an SMTP command or something.

If this was possible, it would validate that the address was real. Spammers get all excited just thinking about it. But no, it isn't possible and the reasons are excellent.
