frustration with os X command line

apple moved things around so much, it's so confusing to use a max via command line nowdays, i can't even find a useradd command to simply add a user, everything goes through netinfo.

I am trying to change my login shell via CLI, well there is no .profile so i thought at least i could just write a shell sript that execuates every time i login, which file can i add the dir to my script to? there is no init under etc

...not really a Linux - Software question, moved to the General forum where it should get a better shot at a response

Isn't way easier to use SUDO or root, whichever way you have it, and add users in Netinfo? I believe it's set up this way to make setting permissions easier! But being on Mac I'll have a go at looking into the way you want to do that. I'll be back! Well to start with, I'm not sure exactly what you want to do. But in terminal there is a manual command (man) maybe man chgrp will point you to what you like, but using terminal to make user changes may become a bit problematic, cause Apple's version of BSD doesn't recognize resouce forks, and the Mac GUI user app is awesome.
