Let's talk and compare the BSD operating systems:
FreeBSD versus OpenBSD ?
Quote:
FreeBsd Vs OpenBsd. There are a number of Unix-like operating systems based on or descended from the Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) series of Unix variants. ... They also generally use a monolithic kernel architecture, apart from OS X and DragonFly BSD which feature hybrid kernels.
I have experimented both, but am not knowledgeable to comment on most of the items you mention. The most significant difference that I noticed is that OpenBSD is more GUI-oriented than FreeBSD, but not so much so as TruOS (was PCBSD).
I believe that both of them use standard BSD style scripts. I was researching SystemD (that's a fancy way of saying I watched some tutorials on YouTube) and SystemD is very much a Linux thing. (The most useful SystemD videos I have found so far are by this fellow.)
Distribution: Mainly Devuan, antiX, & Void, with Tiny Core, Fatdog, & BSD thrown in.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with the above, there are a lot of ex Linux users now using FreeBSD with desktop environments than OpenBSD, & probably more NetBSD users as well.
OpenBSD can certainly run desktops, but the majority of users use the command line a lot more & use startx for when they need a graphics environment, which often just runs a Window Manager.
Most BSD users create the system that they themselves want, so there aren't a lot of different versions like there is in Linux.
FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, & DragonflyBSD are the base systems, anything else will be based on one of those, the majority(?) use FreeBSD as a base.
