Forgiveness
Children are a gift from God.
It is a privilege to be able to raise children. It is a very hard job because parents often have no good role models in order to guide them in raising their children. My parents spend a lot of time arguing, so I did not see a lot of love. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, my youngest daughter choose not to attend because she is holding a grudge against her mother and brother. It saddened me and my other daughter and other family members. Holding a grudge means that you choose to hold on to anger. The healing process can only begin when you forgive others for wrongs they have committed against you. |
I get you, man.
I was lucky. My parents were numbingly normal and unexciting and stable and dependable and I say thanks for that every day. But I have known and been close to my share of dysfunctional families. There is a reason one of my kids is now a therapist . . . . That's all I will say in a public forum. But I get you. Afterthought: I learned a long time ago that forgiveness is not a gift you give to others. It's a letting-go that you give to yourself so that you can move on. |

Thanks.
I told Jessika that it saddened me. She did not take it well, but it needed to be said. |
