Fluxbox announcements

LQ is mentioned on fluxbox as well!!
Fluxbox is the WM of the year!
New fluxbox release is due at the end of february!
New featrures:

* Layer support ("always on top") [high priority]

* Action system [high priority]
You will be able to specify actions for things like button click (thus overriding default actions)

* Transparent windows [low priority]
Configurable both compile time and runtime.

* RANDR support [low priority]
The X Resize and Rotate Extension

* Tabs embedded in title bar. [high priority]
Instead of having them outside the window they will be inside the title bar, thus giving you even more desktop space.

Looks like i'll get my transparency (i talked about this in another post, some time ago). Yay!
For complete anouncements check fluxbox.org
I just thought i'll post this since i know many users here use Fluxbox, and i'm really looking forward to the new release.

Sweet! This is great news to me, I was just getting ready to hop over and start using OpenBox, however I really like flux and think I'll stick with it for a while longer and see how the new one goes.

Thanks for the update!

Just a note:
I saw this post and immediately went to fluxbox.sf.net and started reading updates. Then got to the end of your post and noticed you said see fluxbox.org so I did. The 2 font layouts and sizes are different, yet very similar. It looks like larger font in fluxbox.sf.net where it looks like tighter, smaller more close together font on fluxbox.org, I wonder why? (I am using IE so that might have something to say about it )

Cool

i have 2 questions ..

1. whats the major difference between open and flux ?
2. if i install flux now .. could i just install the new release over the old or do i have to uninstall the old first

..and.. is flux maintained by 1 person and open by a team ?

2. You probably can just install over the top, although I've never given this a go, it would make total sense. Join the mailing list, check out their irc channel, and read around on their website for more info regarding this, but I'd suspect an "over the top" install would work just fine.

Is it maintained by 1 person and open by a team? I am not sure what you mean by open by a team, but it's open to everyone meaning, open source. As far as being maintained by 1 person, I just read over the introduction in the documentation, it appears to maintained by a group of people, but I could be very wrong on that.

Cool

Well, it looks like maybe 1 person might be sort of the maintainer? His name is:
Henrik Kinnunen

Cool

<edit>
Why did you think that Chad? Because of this:

well flux contains some extra mis guided hacks on an old blackbox core, while open contains even more mis guided hacks on an old blackbox core.

Just found this: http://pekwm.pekdon.net/
Looks like another lightweight, nice looking wm is coming around. It even has tabs incorporated into the titlebar, the same thing flux is planning for the next release, just that pekWM is much "younger" than flux. Anyway i'm downloading it now... damn 56k line...
