First week, and this is so cool.
Let's put Linux on one of our spare boxes and have a look at it!
Mandriva 2007.0 as we have it in our dedicated CD basement. Installs? - no worries! - monkey proof buttons! - suites us fine. Questions regarding technicalities of a few things, e.g., DHCP or not, "Shall I format your hard drive" --- etc etc, know enough; won't let little things like that upset us. SHA-BANG: Reboot. ________________________________________________________________ Bloody awesome mate. Everything about the whole "Open Source" PRODUCT is like breathing fresh air after being at the bottom of a mine full of methane and arsenic. To be blunt: This is a model which should be extrapolated to the whole of Humanity. "All I wanted to do was get Apache up and running, but I think I might have found my Life's Work." This Linux is cute, functional and only just unstable enough to make it real. Installed UBUNTU for a look, even easier, and it kept my existing Mandriva installation intact with zero intervention. Modern Linux has nearly everything that you may have found comfortable in your previous life, plus a whole lot more, and then a bit more again. Big learning curve: That's what extreme sport is all about. Anyway must run, have a hot date with a penguin. |
