First Senior Friendly PC
Dear all,
Happen to know that there is a PC specially made simple for seniors above 45s to use. It is called the easyPC and base on a Linux system. If you are interest can check out meeswa.com They sell the PC with P4 2.66GHz and quite good specs (plus easyPC installed) for just SGD 599 (without monitor) plus with 1 free training. Don't think I see any company in SG doing such a development yet except for Mee Swa. It is running on KDE environment and their icons are also specially designed. Have fun. Cheers |

Actually, I checked the site and, apart from the fact that it's full of Flash (ugh), there was nothing there which set the "senior friendly" pc apart from normal pcs.
Anyone know what makes this so senior friendly? |

 For those for whom proprietary hardware designs don't matter though, it looks very nice. |
It definitely looks nice, I just couldn't see what set it apart from any other pc.

Dang! Does this mean I have to ditch my non-geezer friendly PCs to get the one that is intended just for me??

Hi,
The Font size is increased to minimum 13pts (default is 10pts) and they keybinded 8 useful applications on the keybd buttons which minimise the usage of mouse (seniors find it difficult to use mouse) Instead of double clicking the application, it been set to single click. A user and detail user manual is created for the seniors and they will be given one free training. Think this is the only computer that provide such services for this niche segment. To try encourage them to use PC and surf internet. There will be a user grp formed to discuss how to use the technology. They also use xine as multimedia player. can watch vcd or listen to cd or quicktime. Cheers, Ben |
