fiber to the curb

Man!!! I just found out that DSL service in Richardson, TX is on something called fiber-to-the-curb and it's going to take between 4 to 6 weeks to get the service started at my new togetherment!! (you know, they're all 'together' and not 'apart' at all... )

The guy told me, however, that it will allow for the full speed DSL (3Mb). Don't know why that matters.

Anybody know the story/issues with this FTTC concept with SBC?
