Ubuntu _was_ good, but I'm not convinced it still is. That said I'm using it now, on a machine that's going to be the fileserver, router, and web filter for a small school.
My usual choice for servers is CentOS, but this hardware is finicky so it got Ubuntu.
I used SuSE way back (version 9.2), it was pretty good, YaST is comprehensive. I also used Xandros for a while, it worked alright.
last good *buntu was 7.04... this was a real *buntu... dunno what happened since... All i notice is that *buntus that came later were increasingly entangled, and less ... "straightforward" ... well Archers and Slackers have a very precise notion of "straightforwardness"... U know what I mean...
If you're all just going to make a list of distros, I am going to rename this forum to DistroWatchQuestions. If you wait until the end of the year, your list needs will all be met in the 2010 Member's Awards.
