Favorite commercials

Let's start off with the obvious. The Android commercial is annoying.
I have my own version.

Quote:

Roids!
Hemorrhoids!
Verizon.
Geeky guy
Quote:

Can you hear me?
Who in the hell was he calling? Yeah, I can hear you. I can hear you talking shit. Now shut up.

Apple commercials would have been better with Rupaul in them.
Quote:

I'm a Mac.
I'm a PC.
I'm a cross-dresser.

At this moment your last 100 posts show you have made 60 LQ General forum posts and only 40 posts in technical forums. While you're certainly allowed your ration of R&R this is not the way we would like to see LQ used. We are first and foremost a knowledge base for all things GNU/Linux. Since this post of yours may well be highly irrelevant to approximately ninety-nine percent of this forums population I'd like to suggest using your personal web log instead. That may be a place better suited for opinionating the way you have done here.

My apologies.

Okay.
Currently:
NetBSD mounts UFS2 as FFS erroneously, thus preventing FreeBSD from being able to boot from the grub menu. Using OpenBSD to correct this behavior results in null.

FreeBSD sysinstall will not recognize FFS and FFSv2 unless they are created with fdisk on FreeBSD.

KDE edu set will not compile on PowerPC because ocaml is dependent on x86 system calls.

Gpart and Glabel can create an environment for triple booting BSDs but:
a) NetBSD has trouble with finding the BM0 during install. It also will not boot without a pre-existing HFS boot area.
b) OpenBSD requires a DOS partition for boot.
c) FreeBSD requires HFS for booting but there is no documentation on multibooting from the HFS partition if one requires a DOS partition.

SSH setup on most distributions is simple but Fedora setup convolutes the process. To startx from the -Y option on :1 is not documented, is it possible without it executing on the SSH target?

Driver iwi0 with wlan0 or direct does not stay connected and must be reimplemented/restarted every fifteen minutes. Which radio channel and which range- B or G and 1 through 12- will give a constant connection?

Compat linux requires ~1G of space and thids is a waste considering it is only for flash and java, is there any way of minimizing this usage?

Wsmoused loads for terminals 0-4 but not for :0 to :3, how do I enable without having to use Jibbed?

Mr-Bisquit 06-20-2010 04:18 AM

Eleven point five gigavbytes is enough for three OSes but will I need to shrink to allow a minimal install for grub if grub for the other three will not work?
Why is there a delay with r128 on FreeBSD PowerPC but not with ssh -Y of an application?
Considering that the P4/Xeon has two instruction sets/levels, why isn't the second set enabled without a cut in performance?
DVD+RW cannot be read from the current cd0 of this laptop, does this mean it is the hardware or the writing program?

What's the best environment for PowerPC 750 asm on a G3? I've seen cross compiling/environments but not native.

What's the purpose of addressing all NICs as eth0, 1, etc instead of as the physical device?
This causes confusion when using two or more cards of the same type.

Shouldn't SVG be used in the place of PNG and BMP to save memory?

Why does SuSE not recognize lower level amd64 cpus but other distributions do?

Does nmap produce better results for OS fingerprinting than p0f or xprobe2?

Mr-Bisquit 06-20-2010 04:22 AM

The Power architecture surpasses x86(64) in all except for ray tracing and other graphics. has anyone ported povray or yafray to other architectures? If so, what was the result?

Pulse audio is a monster when it comes to resources and causes more overhead than necessary, shouldn't networked audio be a simple server?

Why aren't the audio drivers a simple "YES" or "NO" within the kernel?

Mr-Bisquit 06-20-2010 04:36 AM

With every distribution having its own file hierarchy and package manger, how can LSB be of any use?

Why are there different kernels and so many differences in kernels with each Linux distribution? It would make more sense to have a single kernel and loadable modules.

I've noticed that the linux compat for OpenBSD remains at fedora 4. This is a bit old and should be updated. Is this due to the OpenBSD community, the Linux community, or both?

Maybe I will pick up two older gateways and fix them up for a neighbor. FreeBSD or OpenBSD and why?

Should I run P4#2 for ssh logins or just use it occasionally?

The majority of my technical questions are related to what was posted above. I am quite aware that the percentage of Linux users who understand any BSD system is quite low and that of those users, it is a lower percentage who understand or have used FreeBSD on PowerPC equipment. Most of my technical inquiries are done on mailing lists or BSD forums.

Should I run plan9 or Minix3 on this laptop? Has there been development for a wireless driver on either system?

Why won't kazehakase build on 9.0 if I have firefox3 installed and as the dependency?
Should I have built it first or will the results be the same? this is for PPC and not x86(64).

Mr-Bisquit 06-20-2010 04:39 AM

Is it GNU/Linux or GNU + Linux?

LLVM and PCC can perform as well or better than GCC, will any Linux distribution ever implement either one or does political pressure determine the c compiler of choice?

As you are deliberately sabotaging LQ I am giving you a 1 day timeout to think over the role you can play at LQ. I'll be contacting you via email shortly. Thread closed.
