We had to put our cat to sleep this morning, after a month long bought with liver failure.

To Semmy, our gentle, loving friend ...
You were a great cat, funny, mischievious, and loving all in the same package.
As a kitten, you could be found in bowls I frequently used for cleaning my RC trucks, or hanging high on the door frames.
You liked cabinet doors, frequently opening, then slamming the doors in the wee hours of the mornings just to see who would chase you out first.
At Christmas we always found you high in the tree, sticking your head out, wide eyed, through the branches. More than once did we wake to a toppled tree, ornaments spread from one end of the room to the other.
2007 has been a very grim year for our family, with four beloved cats passing ... and yet, that same year has also given us Mosaic, who certainly has showed us that life goes on.
Grieve for a beloved companion whose spirit, like all spirits (including yours and mine), has passed beyond this sphere having touched your spirit in ways that you can only begin to express. Grieve, and burn a candle in your window overnight.
In time, another cat will appear. Maybe Semmy has sent him or her to you; maybe it will simply come to you for a home. Or maybe the feeling will come to you that "you should go to the pound, or to the pet store, because someone is waiting for you there...." Anyway, these things are real.
