Fake hotmail account

Someone has opened an email account (hotmail) writing all my personal data (name, surname, address...) and telling people around that it is my real email.
Do you know if I can find the IP of the pc of this bastard? otherwise, can you give me any suggestions about evidences I can look for to demonstrate my "innocence"?
Thanks

That's what I did, they told me that because of privacy policy they cannot tell me anything...I can't understand, if supposedly that is my account how is it possible that they cannot tell me not even the exact date of its creation?

You can trace back the IP address if you have access to any e-mail that the person has sent.
In Hotmail, go to Options -> Mail Display Settings and select 'Full' for Message Header option. Now If you open the mail the person has sent, you can see all the IP addresses that the mail has gone through from the originating IP.
If are not successful in preventing the person from doing it, the best option would be to mail everyone in your contact list about this.
Good Luck!!

unless you are a victim of identity theft, the culprit is someone close to you who knows this information.

good luck!
