External/Internal SATA hard drive
I want to buy a new harddrive to use a backup, but in about a year I want to use it inside of a server I am going to build. So I was wondering can I just buy an internal hdd and then some usb->sata converter? Or does it need more power? Or is there a simple docking bay for internals to make them externals?
It's trivially easy to find an external enclosure and add a drive to it. Most externals have separate power sources though, since usb doesn't really provide enough juice to run a hard disk.
This page has a bunch of them.
