Does this exist?

Hi all,

I have a question for all of you... Is there such a thing as a software package that will take text typed in English, and with one click, convert it to another language?

Example, take something stupid like, ummmmm, Notepad in Windows or vi on UNIX systems:

I type, "Hi. How are you today."

Then I click a drop-down arrow where pretty much any language known to man is listed, select the language I want, and the text is automatically converted to that.

Does something like that exist? I'd be very interested in something like that, and if it does not exist, I would love to start a non-profit organization to do it. Open source, of course!!! :D

What do you all think?

Chris

Do you realise though how difficult what your propossing is?

to my knowledge no such program exists as yet, but I researched something similar a few years ago, and I believe it will exist someday.

in the meantime you could open a browser pointing to world.altavista.com, drag text to the window, then click on translate, but it is run on a remote machine, and not open source.

one sunny day...

frankly though it is better to learn the language(s)
