Do you listen to Beethoven? (Or anyone else you know)
Did you (or anyone you know) download Beethoven's symphonies from the BBC a few months ago?
I have a wide and varied interest in music, amongst which is Beethoven.
A while ago the BBC offered on its website a whole string of totally free downloads of Beethoven's symphonies, 1-9. However, by the time I found out about this they'd stopped offering the first five. I tried googling to see if anyone out there was hosting them, but all I found was comments in forums like "I wish someone would put them on the net". (i.e. zilch).
So I was wondering if anyone out there has the first five, could they email them to me? (In 10Mb zip file chunks?)
Thank you
(By the way, if anyone would like Symphonies 6 - 9, I'd be happy to email them to you, again in 10Mb zip files).

Careful - although the music itself is public domain the specific performances typically aren't. You're paying for the artist performance rather than the underlying music and even there you might find "arrangement" copyrights.

I would suspect that if those were offered by the BBC itself, they were properly licensed for free distribution.

Yes it is free distribution
However they only offered them on the website for a week.
(The BBC got complaints from private companies about losing them business. Silly really, as it only increased interest in Beethoven so they all actually saw a profits rise).
So no beethoven fans out there?

Reminds me of a funny comic strip I saw once (BC maybe?). Guy gets advertisement saying send in $1 now and get the music to every song every written. He sends in the $1 and gets back:

I sure some of those video game songs could be masterpieces if you expanded them. Look at what Nine Inch Nails did with the Lengend of Zelda. Who knew?
