Digital Camera

I'm in the market for a decently-priced ($100-200USD) digital camera. I'm sure there are some (at least) amateur photographers around here, can anybody give me a decent idea of what a good one might be and where to find it? I've been looking at this camera here and am considering buying it, but I'm not quite sure and thought a second opinion might be wise.

:Pengy: I recently bought a Nikon L1 for $160 and am extremely pleased with it. It has 6.2 MP and if you get a 1GB memory card you can take up to 100 photos without downloading. The only thing I advise is to get a AA battery charger because it doesn't have a view finder, so the back screen always stays on and kills a regular alkaline battery fast.

The bad thing about Kodak cameras is that silly dock. If your a laptop user and use your laptop mobile then its a pain to have that stipid dock to transfer your pictures.
We have a nikon 5600 and it connects via a USB cable, uses standard AA batteries and standard SD cards. It also mounts as standard USB storage undr Linux.

I recently went thru the exercise of buying a digital camera ... I'm a totally nontechnical point & shoot kind of photographer, but I have studied a smattering of photographic technique, and I knew enough not to believe the reviews posted by people trying to sell them.

I read a bunch of independent reviews, and Kodak never seems to measure up well on those. Another issue is always the first question for Linux users. Will it work with my computer? If it's not on this list, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

I was buying 2 at the time, one for me and one for my son. Wound up with a Canon Powershot A530, and a Canon Powershot A540 ..., and I am mighty pleased with myself.

They were giving away a demo 7mp weird brand digital camera at Sam's club for $50. Bought it and takes really nice pictures vs the 3mp I had before.

But I don't think you can find deals like that often
