did i happen to mention.... ...Linux Rocks!!!

man, am i ever in love with my Linux, why oh why did i put it off for so long i wonder, i don't know how to describe it, it's like, everything works, i mean true, you have to fiddle with this sometimes or fiddle with that sometimes but you know, thats really part of the thrill and i think it's why Mac as wonderful as it has been is actually something completely different. in the mac world you don't bother trying to tweak or make things better, for the simple fact that it's already in excellent shape, so it's like comparing apples to oranges as it were.

now windows, there is NO comparison there, windows is a dog, no, let me take that back, windows is just a whore and a dirty one at that, all windows wants is your money and to give you a "so long sucker" as a reward, so how they manage to sell to the masses. i guess what they are saying is true, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

well not any longer sir, and you better believe Linux is your #1 threat next to the state of the economy, for Linux is the call, the other path that microsoft abandoned a long long time ago, who knows why but to walk down the "dark" side never to return, and there again, good riddens, like i'll ever miss you

"Linux!, Linux!, Linux!", oh to write a piece to be sung by a barbor shop quartet!

I just cannot get enough of the life it breaths into everything it touches. My dell laptop is just like a brand new machine. I cannot get over it, it's unbelievable and these fonts, these lovely lovely fonts and how i love the small small tiny tiny fonts....

Oh, I am a man in Love !

You cracked me up! I feel the same way, though maybe not quite so eloquently... When my new box went down with a gimpy video card and I was Linuxless for a week, I was despondent.

About Windows being a dirty whore... I went up to my mom and dad's to uninstall one of the two different versions of M$ Publisher installed on their machine. One was Publisher 2000, and the other Publisher 2000 SR. Can you believe, the Publisher SR isn't frickin' backwards compatible???? They're not even a release apart! What sort of racket is that?

I love Linux. I use Windows for games and when I have to (read: when I'm at school). I'm too much of a newb at this point to try getting Wine to work, and I hear it doesn't work with Access anyway, which I need for a class. But that's the WHOLE reason I went through the learning experience of installing Apache, PHP and MySQL.

I am a newb. I, too, love Linux.

(it's like a twelve step program... my name is shoe and I've been Windows free for a month...)

Publisher 2000 SR is a Service Release Patch. .. meant to correct and update the original Pub 2000, tis not an upgrade. If it didn't insall your ...1.patch was not necessary
2.you did it wrong (cd in upside down?)
3. your CD or image was corrupted

rakriege...
My mom installed Publisher, which was probably half the problem... She installed it as a new install, not over the old one, which wasn't working correctly to begin with... That explains some. Thanks. And since it was a disk, she, er, swiped from work, I couldn't really reinstall it.

If I thought I could I'd get them on Linux. Maybe I'll install it on the old laptop I'm giving them... God, they'd KILL me. My dad would frustrated beyond belief and my mom wouldn't touch the thing, fearing it would explode.

VIVA LINUX!

I've just moved the thread to the General forum. It doesn't fit Linux - Newbie and is probably heading to a Windows vs Linux type of threads , so it fits better here.
