I'm saying unless we can predict the future? We make it,,, fear and all... all interpretations aside Catcher In The Rye did not kill John Lennon, Mark David Chapman and his gun did.

May I respectfully suggest that before anyone posts responses or threads regarding Science and Technology that rather than only relying on Mass Media and/or Pop Science that they add the term "scholarly" to their search terms to seek what actual scientists in the field have to say on that subject. Even such luminaries as Micheo Kaku and Neil deGrasse Tyson have been known to generalize and even bend to obvious faults (such as Neil donning sun glasses to shield his eyes from a "recreation" of The Big Bang's "explosion of energy" in Cosmos Rebooted) in favor of showmanship. Adding "scholarly" to searches will put you in touch with some articles too deep for many to comprehend (often including me with only 2 years of Calculus) but also you will get JPL, CERN, Nature, and numerous other sites and documents that have a better blend of truly serious and accurate information but minus what amounts to too much Math for most.

Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking are indeed brilliant men but they like all of us have areas of expertise and may know less than you on many subjects. That they express concerns over AI is still a good thing as we need checks and balances to "keep our course straight". However people actually working in and around AI see no linkup with destructive technology not ultimately under the control of humans. Nobody in their right mind is going to program in total autonomy, access and power..... let alone access to the shutoff switch.

If we fear creating life will bring about our destruction then don't procreate.

I suppose it would still be legit to "keep practicing" just in case though, right? :P
