Cooling
My PC makes a right noise and its gatting on my nerves. It sounds like a jet engine(not really but its really loud). I have a Dr. Cooler fan fro my AMD athlon 2000+ and a 300W PSU. The case also has another fan on the top of it i think just for cooling the environment. Can anyone link me to UK products that I can buy to make it quieter.

Hi Boffy!
If you're sure that it's the CPU fan that makes the noise, then you could try one of these: http://www.arctic-cooling.com/en/pro..._silent2r2_tc/ I had an Athlon XP 1500+ that sounded like an express train and after switching to one of those babies, I had to look at the power LED when I turned it on to make sure that it really was on. Using a screwdriver and a lot of force to pry the new fan in place is pretty scary, but that's another story. Martin |
Never used 'em myself, but http://www.quietpc.com seem to do a lot of stuff :)

How can i find out if its the fan.
And also is it difficult. When i built the PC i was warned that I had to be careful with the fan cos if the copper bit on the processor got scratched it wouldnt work. So would I be better taking it to a professional for like a tenna £10. |
Open up the case and stop each fan with your finger - that's the way I do it :P
Stopping the CPU fan will probably switch the computer of due to some protection in the bios, but you can stop the case fan and see how much difference it makes Probably best to take it to a professional if he charges you only £10, if you're not confident in doing it yourself :) Steve |
You could try some of the fans from SilenX . They have some really low noise fans.
