Connecting an xbox 360 to a vga/dvi monitor

Hey everyone, I can't seem to find any help for this online, maybe someone here has tried this. I am attempting to connect my xbox 360 to my lcd monitor which has both vga and dvi connections. I am using the dvi port for my pc, so I figured that I would try to find a rca composite video to vga adapter so that I could toggle between pc and xbox by changing the monitor input.

Ordered something similar to this off of ebay but no signal coming through. Checked to make sure that if is not the monitor (works when laptop is connected to vga port) or the 360 (works on regular tv) so either I received a defective adapter or my reasoning is flawed. Any advice?

Interesting. I thought the signal levels were different enough that it would require a "box", rather than a simple cable.

Viewsonic has (had? I bought it awhile back) a nice box that has VGA pass-through, with Composite, antenna, and S-Video inputs. Turn box on and you can select from those inputs, turn it off and the VGA pass-through is active. Been using that for awhile to run my Atari 7800 that my LCD TV/VGA won't sync with natively (but syncs fine with the Viewsonic output).
