confluence.org garbled

Hey all, can you test this to see if this is universal and not just me?

I am using Mandrake 10 with Firefox 1.0 (preview) and so: here is my problem:

When I go to http://www.confluence.org it works. for the first time. cool. Then the next day I go and try to get to it and it is garbled. really wierd. Like when you try to read like a gif in notepad. OR: like the wingdings font. Garbled.

could you guys replicate the test it day one, close browser try again, and the next day try again.

I reboot my computer, perhaps this is my problem. (I refuse to sleep in a whirring room. the traffic is bad 'nuff.)

thanks guys

Still looking good

titanium_geek 09-27-2004 04:05 PM

must be just me then.
Oh... did you reboot?

I'll post a link to screenshot soon.

Blinker_Fluid 09-28-2004 11:08 AM

Rebooted and about 20 hours later it is still normal.

titanium_geek 09-28-2004 07:10 PM

must be just me then. Oh well.
This actually happened with another site also, but that one is not repeating the error.

I think it must be a rendering error.

Thanks everyone for the hassle.

wierd wierd wierd!!!!

just went to the link posted by Blinker_fluid, and....

IT WORKED!!! what the heck. and the main page too. will try a close tab open again..... perhaps I'm having a php rendering problem, or perhaps my ISP is having problems picking up "index.php" in "confluence.org"

after closing and opening the tab and trying again.... same garbage characters.
what is this!?!?

(frustration, not temper.)

Again, I click the link listed by Blinker_fluid (bless him!)
and it works!!!! but if I type in my browser... grrrr....

<edit>
However if I click the link to the main page... again a thump of the fist to monitor ;)
</edit>

<edit 2>A thought.... could bookmarking the page lead to any problems?</edit 2>

It seems to me that you should really be contacting confluence.org about any strange behavior you are seeing with their website - I'm not sure how posting comments here at LQ about some other website's performance problems would resolve any possible issues. If you are a fan of that website, you probably would be doing them a big favor by reporting these problems to them. -- J.W.

*duh!!* oh... :rolleyes:

um, yeah, I thought it was a computer problem, as other sites were coming up the same for a while.

I will try and contact confluence.org myself then.

sorry!
