I went to pick up a new laptop to be a dedicated Linux machine. I had an idea of what I wanted so I was browsing around. I stumbled on a HP model I liked. One of the sales reps starts chatting with me and I tell him I am going to be running Linux on it, he chats it up and says he really doesn't know much. I asked to pop in and boot a live Kubuntu CD and explain to him what it is, he kinda gives me a no answer and sends over a tech. The tech is a Mac user and understands how a Live CD works, he said they were not suppose to but he let me boot it up. This was a model dv9339US and Kubuntu detected all the hardware(I am not sure about the media reader, I have no use for it anyways). He seemed to be really interested in Ubuntu so I left the tech my Kubuntu CD's. I told him to try them out and pass them on.
Whats ironic is that they'll hire a 30yr old idiot, but not a 17yr old that knows what they are talking about. I've always had more luck at Best Buy. Staples isn't that great either.

They are all the same, sometimes they actually do have someone who knows what they are talking about. I have a buddy who has some minor network experience and a couple basic certifications who applied at best buy and they told him he is over qualified and would not hire him..
I have actually been laughing at this now as I am sitting here. I think that tech messed his pants half way through the kubuntu boot up. While loading something errored out, he got really nervous and his voice got a little shakey and he says "This won't mess with the OS, right?"
