Chinese hackers ?
The mods do not like me posting "conspiracy theories" in the security forum, so they will go here instead.

Now, I don't ask you to believe what I said, but I do ask you this: Why would specifically Chinese hackers hack Google ? Just for fun ? Who stands to benefit ? Since when did mass media became the judge, jury, and executioner ? Since when do they have the power to go from "Chinese hackers allegedly hacking Google, according only to Google" to "Chinese hackers being fully responsible for hacking Google", with no proof whatsoever other than their word ? Do you realize that there is no justice anymore, no truth ? That it is all being manufactured by one entity, let's call it the Ministry of Truth. Now the only question is, who is Big Brother ? It is a rhetorical question. I say you start by turning off your telescreen, if Big Brother still grants you that privilege. Also see: http://abcnews.go.com/International/...ory?id=9654628 |
Name a country that does not spy on other countries.
Some are obviously worse because of their ambitions, prejudices, and economic situation. |
H_TeXMeX_H is more concerned about Governments spying on their own citizens.

They all spy on everyone, but when they start throwing around accusations, and then turning them into "facts", and then using them to say start a war ... then it's something else.
Have you noticed how China is being continuously pummeled by western media about everything ? They want to demonize China as much as is possible. This is not to say that the Chinese government is perfect, it's very far from perfect, but then so is every other government, especially the US government. So this criticism launched by the media is not warranted, they blame China for absolutely everything now. I know that it isn't really the media itself that is in charge, they just take orders, but this doesn't mean they are not just as guilty. |

The US doesn't seem to function unless there is some sort of external evil that people can point to and scream about. Nothing new here. As soon as we're done being paranoid about the Chinese, something else will come along and we'll go through the same song and dance one more time. |
So then I guess we can't learn from the past ? not even now ? Oh, well, I guess that's why it has to repeat itself in one big demented infinite loop of stupidity.

Omg! North Korea!!!!!!
Aaaahhhh!!!!! |

I can tell you that my systems are constantly probed...from China. In the past, and periodically to this day, one or more of my systems comes under attack - sometimes fairly heavy attack - from China.
Why do they do it? Ask them. Might be the same thing as the crackers/ spammers we see in the rest of the world; just trying to take over systems to join them to the botnet. Might be gov't espionage to learn whatever they can learn. I don't know and, since my machines are production machines and I am long since out of the electronic intelligence business, I just block 'em and don't try to set up honeypots or track 'em back, or figure out what they want. As for why China would crack Google? Google is a treasure trove of all kinds of information. Hell, I'd crack Google if I could. And information is power. Reportedly, they were looking for information on their dissidents. Sounds plausible. And gov't mandated backdoors in Google? I don't believe it. Show me the evidence. Gov't has to get a warrant and approach Google, and exercise the warrant. Even now, in these, the last days of the Republic, that remains true...for now. Maybe the carnivore system, or its descendants, is available to scan gmail...in fact, I'd bet on it...but that isn't a "backdoor into Google", which implies a secret way to access all of Google's information from outside. edit: After following the links a bit further and reading the original blog post, I see that this so-called backdoor was indeed Carnivore, though not named as such. In that case, yes, I agree it is possible. |
I know there exist Chinese hackers, and that they do hack and crack, but that doesn't mean that they have to be involved in everything.
There hackers don't work for the gubmint, so then why would Google pull out of China after these supposed Chinese hackers (at some school) hacked into Google. It doesn't make sense to me. There's just as many hackers in Russia, in Europe, in the US. Does this mean that if some hackers from Europe hack Google they're going to pull out of Europe ? This was obviously done for political reasons, in which case I doubt that Chinese hackers did it, it is more likely someone who not only knows about the backdoor, but also has the keys to use it ... |
