Technical schools are not so great...but they are hands on.

That being said...no matter what path you take (University/Technical School/Certs) you have to take the time and supplement what you are learning with other sources and actual hands on experience.


My story...

I have an AS from a technical school. I have 3 certs (A+, Network+, and Linux+...working on my CCNA now) and I am currently going for my BS (at the same technical school). I work as a Systems Administrator (working with Solaris and Red Hat) and I make $54,000 a year (pretty good for an AS degree ).

The possibilities are out there...did I get lucky? NO! Luck has nothing to do with it. You get what you put into it. The more work you put into your learning the higher the rewards...
