Unhappy Can't install windows xp (ntldr is missing)

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi everyone. I am new to Linux. I've installed Ubuntu 9.04 few days ago. When installing Ubuntu I have deleted my drive D:/ from HDD and used a free space to make partions for Ubuntu and (ext3 and swap) and created new drive D:/ from left free space (I did it though XP after install) . So now i had 2 OSs on my pc. Today I made a stupid mistake. I have deleted all files from drive C:/ in Ubuntu and now I can't install windows. i insert CD, restart my computer, "Loading from CD/DVD, grub loads, I chose Windows XP , screen goes black and then message appears "NTLDR is missing. Push Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot". I can't enter windows installation. Please help me. I don't want to make thing even worse.

The first thing I would do is look in the grub.conf file and see where the option boot to, then you may need to boot to rebuild the boot loader. I am not completely sure if fixboot will wipe the grub configuration or not. Can you mount the ntfs filesystem, and go in there and rebuild the ntldr file and place it where it needs to be?

What are you trying to do? What CD are you referring to? Is this the windows installation CD? If it is, you shouldn't be getting a grub boot menu. Do you have the CD/DVD drive set to first boot priority? If you actually deleted your boot files from windows, you'll need to do a Recovery or new install. You might try going to bootdisk.com and see what they have that you might be able to use. You might try SuperGrubDisk but if you deleted boot files in windows partition, I doubt that will help.

I did rebuild the boot loader (ntldr and other files) And i still can't enter setup.
Grub loads anyway and when i choose windows it says something like "can't load ../system32/hal.dll"
Seems like he's trying to launch my deleted windows. Yes, first booting device is cd-rom then HDD.
What windows recovery cd areyou talking about?
Is there any way to pont Grub to boot from CD?
And as far as i know to install windows normaly I should delete ubuntu first. Is that right? i don't want to get in situation in which i couldn't install windows and ubuntu too.
Thanks for replys.

As said, you should not see grub when booting from CD. Either the message is something like 'press <enter> to boot from CD/DVD' or your CD is corrupted.
