This has probably been asked loads of times. However, I would also like URLs to all sites and so on. I got a trial subscribtion of Linux Magazine, http://www.linux-magazine.com, and all I can say is it was only €9 as I can say... well, it certainly isn't worth much more than that.
I read on page 3, on the right hand top side they say "We pride ourselves on the origins of our publication", and I can certainly agree with that... never before in my life of reading have I seen a magazine with so many errors in the first sentence. Firstly, call me dumb, but isn't it spelled supporters and not spporters? (Don't even answer, I already know the answer and I'm 110% sure that you do to.)
Another easy example: "No that is a bad idea!"... according to English rules, it would be either Now that is a bad idea! or No, that is a bad idea! however from the rest of the text it is pretty obvious that it should be the first one; either way the Editor didn't proof read his own page. I'm very happy that I didn't order the full subscription, as I certainly don't see why I should pay good money for a thin one hundred page magazine when it is filled with errors ranging from spelling, to punctuation to grammar.
I myself am not the best writer, however even I know such simple mistakes as what I saw in this magazine.
So really, what I am looking for is this - good magazines about Linux. I want them to be either British or American, either will do but must be in the English language and have to be shipped to France. I don't want something too expensive, $534 is out of the question while $100 is still on the lines of ok.
I would like a publication that has been written well, using proper English and one that was proof-read well and has no errors in at all; by no errors I mean grammar and spelling wise, not content wise as I wouldn't really know since I'm still very new to Linux.
Unfortunately, I only found out one nice thing in this magazine, however other than that... I can't see why one would buy it.

Linux Journal is a decent Linux publication, but it is not for newbies. It's really designed for the types that can compile a sourcecode, or can at least write a decent script. Occasionally they run some newbie friendly articles.
Most Linux magazines I know of are geared toward IT professionals who manage a whole network of machines for a business. Are there any magazines geared toward the individual Linux enthusiast?

I have the exact same problem when looking for magazines on Finance. Best I've found so far seems to be Forbes. The best best I found was C.F. however their price was about $500+ for one year subscription.

There was another too, but forget.. Possibly already mentioned Linux Journal? (They are currently in box.. or boxes. )
LF is the one I pick up the most. (and read )
I find it on the exspensive side though. ~22$ CAN per DVD issue. (~18$ for CD issue) But he extra 3Gig is usually worth it. beisdes, "might use that.. "

As a financial consultant, let me say that Forbes is a rag...
For instance: One week variable annuities are the bomb, the next they are bombing,...
The rag encourages people to think that they are Wall Street-style experts, without giving consistent advice. (If you think about it, consistent advice doesn't help them sell magazines, as it'd be the same edition over and over).
Do yourself a favor, just sit down with a financial advisor...
Most will work on a non-fee basis as long as you place the business with them (you don't get discounts on products for being a do-it-yourselfer)...
They'll come to your home or place of business and educate you as part of their work.
As far as Linux magazines, I've yet to see one truly devoted to the Linux hobbyist. I guess there just aren't enough of us to justify a print edition of a magazine...
Jeremy, root in these forums, writes for a Linux mag, but I'm not sure which one. Cause when I found one with articles by an author 'jeremy' there were about 5 all with different last names... but it's a good mag.
Thanks for the info on Linux Format people. I'm going to check it out and see what they're like. I've had magazines by Future Publishing before and am afraid to say I was never pleased with their content, however I'll have to see how they match up to their Linux magazine. For someone in the U.K. their DVD edition isn't that too pricey at only £60 and seems to be a pretty good price for a magazine.
Thanks for the list Macewan. I'll check out Linux World Magazine. Obviously you didn't read my post fully as you'd see that I am not very pro-Linux Magazine at the moment.

Yeah, it really does seem like it. Big shame though.

Oh, yes, about the finance magazines - I'm mainly looking into them as next year I'm starting a four year course in Accountancy and Finance. Just curious about reading something related to what I'm going to be doing but which isn't a 700 page small print book.

Thanks for the headsup Witeshark. Hopefully he'll see this post and may even post in saying which one he works for.
