Hello

If you would like to get an epub, you will face the problem that it is impossible under linux since ACSM is a adobe security for windows of mac.

Even under Windows it does not work :(

What a funny thing that nowadays nothing works in informatics.

Regards
X.

You can't buy it on InformIT, O'Reilly, Smashwords or some other store that sells DRM-free EPUBs? Can you buy it DRM-free directly from the author or publisher (always check that)?

People usually buy via online shops.

Adobe f**k up the whole electronic book industry at once ! Great job.

sudo apt-get install playonlinux winetricks
Download the Windows version of Adobe Digital Editions 1.7

maybe? - nothing is possible guys if you really try.

Anyone got the solution using wine?

Google the error.

And stop buying DRM'd EPUBs. Sheesh.

==> Nothing is better true than this! However, you cannot predict that the online shop has or not complex DRM procedure to get the book. They arent mentioning it in all cases, must not since it is already a standard (to doom many users willing to read what they paid for)!!

Uhm, yes you can, and yes they do in all cases? Is there actually an online store that had Adobe DRM and didn't disclose it? Are you willing to post and shame the store?

Sorry but big shop (almost country monopole) do not disclose about it. For sure, they do not care since a single customer will not be a big problem. There are no refund. I sent an email and got the feed back that it isn't their problem since the ACSM has been delivered and is functioning well. So what can you even say? You have to live with Adobe DRM and forget.

You cannot avoid it, and it is not allowed not to used ACSM. So be pleased to use Mac or Windows to read a book.

Name the "big shop" that's dominating the ebook market in Debian Land.

Name the store that you bought the epub from.
