blender/yafray picture :)
I was making some artwork in blender using the yafray raytracing rengine. I thought I would share my work with some of you people.
Here is a render I just did of a golden ring next to a diamond. Pretty cool hu :) |
That's awesome! You seem to be an expert :) Can you give me some tips :D
Blender is an excellent 3d software and the best part is that it's free. Here's the blender gallery with some amazing pics! http://www.blender.org/cms/Gallery.55.0.html |
Thanks Harishankar!
Actually I am no where near being an expert. Made the golden ring by following a tutorial on the blender website. But the diamond is mine. Well.... I read some tips on the internet. |
I made the usual gingerbread man. Didn't follow instructions though but it still comes out well.
Actually Blender has become more user friendly since version 1.x and that makes it a lot easier. |
How do you get it so shiny?
|
Do you have yafray installed? If so, follow this tutorial to get the golden ring.
The diamond was hard to make. First, I looked up how a well cut diamond should look like. Found it on wikipedia . You can have my diamond file if you like. Look at the settings and stuff. You can find it here. Have fun! :) |
Thanks.. will check it out! :)

I installed Yafray and I actually got that shiny effect. Cool renderer. Much better output than the internal blender renderer. Thanks for introducing me to Yafray!

Here's my attempt at a golden ring with Blender and Yafray! I followed the tutorial, but not blindly and did some slight tweaks here and there.
Here it is! http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../gold-ring.jpg |
Here is an improved version with a small semi-precious stone.

(the UI is what throws me. I'm very familiar with Truespace and Bryce and slightly familiar with Maya - the workflow in Blender seems totally different) |
Kimvette, I've done a few as well. Blender is really intuitive. Not user friendly at first go, but it's editing features are very intuitive and quite solid. Feature rich too!
There are also a lot of tutorials and samples available on the internet. I found quite a few on the official blender site as well as the yafray site. |
