While you are free to explore most topics of interest at LQ handling medical issues is for qualified practitioners. I strongly suggest you go talk to one. If biofeedback is what you are after then please visit www.aapb.org.

Strongly agree: you need a diagnosis, and fast.

A relative of mine had scoliosis. So, she lived with back pain. But, when the pain started up again, she always sought a checkup to make sure that it was (still) scoliosis. One day, it wasn't: it was cancer. Her skepticism saved her life. Pain is always your body's signal to your brain that something is wrong, and your brain must be the one to find out. Use it.

I don't think that biofeedback will help in any way with chronic pain because pain is always triggered by something physical that is physically affecting your nervous system. You must find out what it is. "Second-guessing" what it might be can have terrible consequences.

No second guessing.

I have several damaged vertebra from 5 rear-end collisions.

Physical therapy helped for a while.

TENS also worked for a while, but no longer.

I see a neurosurgeon at the end of the month.

Intractable pain is like torture...you get to the point where you will try anything to get pain relief.

I have looked at myrrh for it's analgesic properties.

I prefer natural methods.

Once you have one-or-more competent physical diagnoses of what (might ...) be physically causing the pain that you are experiencing, then you have a variety of options as to what to do about it. Medicines, surgery, natural remedies, biofeedback, riding a rhinocerous ...

Medicine is not "an exact science."

But, until you have that diagnosis, you are flying blind, and therefore playing an extremely dangerous game. "Unexplained pain is never 'normal.'" Attempts at treatment (or even palliation ...) in the absence of knowledge are folly.

The qualified individuals who give you this knowledge ... this factual diagnosis ... might be wrong, and they might accompany their knowledge by giving you a list of treatment-alternatives that are not the best ones for you. You do not have to agree with them, and you do not have to do what they suggest. But, at the very least, they are "people on the outside, looking in," who have made such assessments before and who have some amount of training in how to do it properly. You need facts, first, and this is what they can (try to) offer you. Make of those facts what you will, but do not delay in obtaining facts from as many sources as you can. Then, do not simply "nod and smile." Ask questions.

You need to re-read my last post.

Maybe you did not understand that I am under a doctor's care.

Houston has some pretty good docs. :-)

Have a good evening.

My girlfriend is diabetic (type I, diagnosed at age 13).

The only public medical website she trusts is the MayoClinic's, and I trust her judgement.

When it comes to medicine and health, be very skeptical about stuff you hear and read on the internet and commercial media.

Most "unheralded miracle cures" are medicine show snake oil designed to separate the gullible from their money.

And, with that, I'm bowing out of this thread. As others have pointed out, it's really not in LQ's breadbasket.

I am in my 60's and have have had many life experiences.

Where you came up with "unheralded miracle cures" is a mystery to me.

I never asked for any medical advice, JUST feedback.

That is often a good way to learn things for those who use wisdom in evaluating things.

I have been a scientist for around 45 years.

As such, I never assume anything based on a few tidbits of info.

Take care. :-)

I apologize. I was speaking generally; I'm sorry that I sounded as if I thought you were looking for miracle cures.
