"Best Viewed with Free Software" website logo

Hi all.

I'm looking for a logo for websites (well, mine) that bears the slogan "Best Viewed with Free Software", as opposed to the usual "Best viewed with IE5" and such. Has anyone come accross such a thing? If not, could someone make one? I'm sure it would be well used by plenty of sites if one could be produced.

I've seen plenty of "Best viewed with any browser" and W3C logos around, but none for OSS / Free, and googling has produced nothing of note.

Any ideas / links would be appreciated.

Dave

It's not perfect, but here you go...

OK, I liked this idea, so I spent all of 15 minutes learning how to use Adobe imageready... Don't flame me for using closed source tools or format - if I could have used an animated PNG, I would have.

Hi all.

Sorry I haven't replied for ages - case1984, I saw the gif you made, that's the sort of thing I'm looking for, but I can't access it on your site any more.

should work, sorry I moved it.

Does anyone know if an animated png is even possible?

Just some general advice--if you're using the logo as a joke, that's one thing. But if you're using it because your page actually uses special features explicit to certain open-source web browsers, well, it's not really a good thing to make your page "best viewed with" any particular browser.

Not trying to be an ass, just some friendly advice.

I always liked "This web page is best viewed in 2 colors, so you can see it."

OK, I thought it was kind of a joke... Like saying "this page is best viewed with any browser that is w3c standards compliant and does not use any proprietary technology" But that's kind of wordy.

Of course your W3c compliant page will not look any different no matter what your browser is unless IE does something wierd to it.

and 2damncommon- I don't get it black text on white background or what?

If the page is only one color it can be hard to read.

Yeah, thanks titanium_geek - I knew they had to exist, but photoshop and imageready don't support them. Looks like I am going to have to use the Gimp (tried it before but I didn't like it).
