hey newbiesforever, you can create any thread you want. In fact, it might spice up things here. WIndow$ vs linux gets old and boring.

Ehh. A member of much higher standing just politely told me no, so if such a thread is created, it will be by someone else. That was the idea anyway, really.

You're probably right. It's kind of a bad idea anyways.

...of much higher standing?! You must be kidding me. I didn't know there were any standings on LQ. If you mean no of posts and/or reputation systems, I'm a perfect exception to the rule that numbers don't lie:)

Anyway, as josh@linux mentioned you can create (almost) any thread you want (within LQ rules), I suggested not starting a thread like that as I personally can't see any point in it (and I've been proven wrong here many times)

 You'll have to excuse me...I misinterpreted "contributing member." Until I checked just now, I thought it meant a member who particularly contributes to the knowledge base. It hadn't occurred to me that the "contribution" was money to help operate the site.

I concur. Well said.
Not by "Contributing"...
Count the "Reps" and it can tell how many souls have found relief from troubles of learning.

The only thing I can miss from Windows is the really high quality DAW and audio processing units. I have played around for a bit with what linux has to offer but they are way behind in the competition, especially when it comes to plugin quality. That is really my only gripe with Linux. Otherwise it's the most solid, and sexy looking OS I have ever used.

I haven't really done any audio recording/processing for at least 6 years now. Last time I checked the open-source world unfortunately lacked good quality VST plugins. Not that it mattered much for my home recording needs:) Besides, excellent quality VST plugins would not make up for the lack of musical talent:)

Let's just keep this thread around, continuing to do its very-useful purpose as a honeypot. (Besides... "shiny things" are fun! :) )

Audio in general is a mess in the Linux world - don't get me started on that. Other than that, yes: Linux is "the most solid, and sexy looking OS I have ever used", I agree.

inb4 "Linux is a kernel, and not an operating system"
inb4 "It's GNU/Linux!"

Looks awful...and this is the wrong forum. Its 'Linux - General' not 'Windows - Adverts'. Reported for moving.

No its looks awful. Like a flipping Tomy "My First Computer". If I wanted a toy, I'd buy a toy.
