Sports? No, no, no, no..... Ya gotta get away from all the organized, adult-supervised stuff where only some participate...and just play (well, you're a little old for that now) and work things out for yourself. Ever build a fort/tree-house (without adult help)? Play with Matchbox cars on the floor?[Kenny: "On the floor? You barbarian!"]


And the typewriters! Oh, muh boy....a ribbon (Ink-laden cloth tape on a spool) would last for ages...and was dirt cheap.

And the scanners aren't so fast....when ther cashier has to pass the item over the scanner 12 times for it to register, or type in a 900 digit number. You're too young to have seen it (they disappeared in the 70's) but a cashier punching in the prices could really do it fast- I mean, they could fly! Faster than scanning- believe it or not (it was a skill). They'd just pick up an item and look at the price tag while punching it in without even looking at the cash register, and the items would never stop moving...the cashier was in constant motion and the items went through just as fast as she could move 'em one at a time. Man, I miss that. Checkout was so much faster 40 years ago.

Yeah, for some reason, here in America, they only use diesels in trucks and a few Volkswagens. All this talk of fuel economy for the last 40 years, but we have virtually no small diesels. Really makes you wonder.

Mine was a Star Spangler. It was white and I rode the wheels off that thing. I live in the sticks out here.

My brother wants a new rig. He usually buys one prebuilt. This time, he wants me to build it for him and put Linux on it. Yeppie!! A OS I can fix easily but that rarely breaks to begin with. It will be Gentoo like me.

yes,it's a fact: you can modifiy linux and freely distribute it completely legal, while windows not.

done, that's all about copyright issues.
a good strong point IMO of linux is that you have many FS's to choose from,while in windows you're limited to 2

I know, they call it copyleft, but it is basically the same thing. The Linux kernel and the Gnu tools have a license, and you are not free to do anything that you want. You have to follow the license. That you have the right to modify and distribute it doesn't mean that there is no copyright. The licenses are very permissive, but you have to follow them, or the permission to use GPL code will become void.
