Bandwidth speed tests

HI:
i used different websites for testing my bandwidth speed (cogeco ,internetfrog, speakeasy)
and every website have a different result than the other,so is there any thrusted way to test my bandwidth.

FPFPFP! :D

Hey I usually test my bandwith with this tool .
It is a Latvian site, but might work fine for you. :)

I tested my bandwidth on bandwidthplace.com & CNET.com & indeed i got different results from both of them.

Of course, it has to do with the distance and number of hops between you and the server that's doing the testing. Honestly, find a very close, very fast mirror and download a Distribution ISO. That'll help you at least see your average download speed, assuming the server has a faster connection than you.

Shade what if i am having a connection of 2 Mbps & the site offering bandwidth test is under stress because of its own traffic is predicting my speed to be 1.5 Mbps(which isnt true).

Like most of these bandwidth test permforming sites downloads/uploads certain amount of data to get the average speed.

Dont you think nos of hops doesnt count that much instead of site's own traffic or congestion ?

What you think would be more appropriate reason for different sites providing different results ? Sites own bandwidth or nos of hops ?

..Amit..
