ATI X1270 integrated

I am interested if somebody has tried ATI 1270 integrated graphic card on some laptop. How would you rate its performance - video, games, 3D (well whatever 3d it is).

I wonder if there's any news on this... I'm thinking of buying a laptop with the following specs:

Processor - Athlon 64 X2-TK55
Chipset - AMD M690T
Video-card - ATI Radeon X1270

Just wondering if Compiz-Fusion would work with this hardware. I'm a Fedora-user. Have Fedora 8 installed on my Fujitsu-Siemens-notebook now, and everything works smoothly. It's Intel-based, though.

Thanks!

Stijn.

Should be compatible with fglrx and radeonhd (no 3d with radeonhd... yet). I am running fglrx (catalyst 8.3) on an x1600 with compiz-fusion and it runs smoothly. I could run compiz-fusion on a radeon 9200SE okayish, so the x1270 should be more than adequate. Check fglrx support for that chipset before buying though (it should be compatible).

I bought MSI VR610X notebook having ATI RS690T north bridge. May be I am wrong, but ATI software detects my card as x1200 series, though I expected x1270.
I tried both fglrx and radeonhd drivers. The latter has no 3d acceleration yet nor 2d, but has superior 2d performance which is obvious when watching films or using KDE 4. I haven't tried HD films under some Linux player yet. I am not happy with the 2D performance of the fglrx driver. I can't watch full screen films in neither KDE3 or KDE4 and I am not talking even about HD ones. Also when turning off KDE4 the screen darkening is pathetically sluggish. I haven't tried Compiz fusion yet.
I read that the third driver for this video card - radeon (xf86-video-ati) - now has 3d hardware acceleration. There has been a bux fix in mesa as you can read here:
http://airlied.livejournal.com/59351.html
I haven't tried this driver because I am using OpenSuse which comes with radeonhd.
In windows the ATI driver supports the Aero effect and HD films can be watched if using some of the AVIVO enabled players - Media player while I believe is supposed to be one of them is not good for the job.
I have also tried the card 3D performance and it is as expected slow. I have seen NVIDIA GeForce 7050 PV integrated card on a PC and I think that subjectively its 3d performace is better. It also has the AVIVO alternative Pure Video api.
I think that while having shortcomings the card is good for its money. Especially if you think that you will be better off with more RAM or faster processor for the same money.
