Are there other service like Netflix out there?

Are there other legal services out there where one can watch movies or TV shows on the internet that are legal.

I'm doing away with cable do to cost .Please do not say any web site that is not legal.

But I will pay x amout per month to watch movies or TV shows on the inernet.

I think iTunes you can do this with movies or TV shows too.

Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime are the only serious competitors to Netflix, but they are way behind in terms of content.

Honestly, Netflix is far and away the industry leader in streaming video, any of the other services available tend to focus on niche areas Netflix lacks in (Hulu: network TV, Amazon: newer releases).

I think walmart and something like vudu. Of course hulu and hulu plus. CinemaNow may offer some content. There was some company that got around some rules.
The have automated DVD/Blueray changers. When you request a movie they load up a disk. That way they can get faster to home streaming since they really did use a disk.
Blockbuster may still be in business.

Places like Historychannel.com have a lot of stuff. PBS.org and the national public broadcasting still have great content if you want to watch online.

Xfinity (fancast maybe) I think had some content.

Someone said filmon.com

Archive.org has some old stuff.
Some old stuff on youtube too.

Dunno, might see some of these sites. http://blog.buttermouth.com/2007/06/...ovies-and.html

I finally quit netflix, guess it is OK if you find what you want.

if you have cable or satellite then they offer a lot of media too. In a worse case deal you might see if you can get enough content from them to justify the cost. dishnetwork has a lot of the movies online (if you paid for the service like HBO).

For anime there are the following paid streaming video services:

wow I will look into some of them.

Some people say that Netflix is more into movies than TV shows.

Netflix actually has a fantastic anime selection. But you have some good leads from dugan now (since you want alternatives).

Netflix definitely has a lot of TV shows, but they tend to be older shows, while Hulu Plus has new release shows.

Though that occasionally leads to odd situations. Like I have seen TV series that have their first 2 seasons available on Netflix, but the third and fourth seasons only available on Hulu Plus. So I've had to watch the same series on both services to see the entire run, it's very annoying.
