well still spam is growing neverthe less , I wonder if there is any way it can be classified as a criminal offence (if it hasent yet been classified as one ) and along with listening to conversation , chat of people (right or wrong wont comment about it in this topic) the governments should atleast track those spammers that make us waste our time (which is money ) so they waste our money and any country's revenue

I get almost no spam on my isp account, but my hotmail account gets a lot of it. But then, that's why I use that hotmail account to register for various websites, so the spam can go there instead of my real one.

spam only occurred when people are actually more interested in seeing(and they make very sure that they will come back hourly and daily to scrutinize something(this makes me wonder ...)) what they dont like to see ... this makes their life more enjoyable ...

i think i need to reqoutes myself downhere ::

"dont publish your personal isp mail addresses on *any* web mail locations , infact try to avoid getting yourself serious in web mail totally ... i have the impression that web mail is more for not so serious and gaming stuffs ..."

try not to talk , chat and print about any serious stuffs on the internet's "web" kind of convenience ui interfaces ... what i meant by "web" kind of ui interfaces are actually ui interfaces that are created and designed for the sole purpose of luring and seducing more simple-minded computer users ... these are the gold mines , you cant really find any true things in those kind of places ...

unless they are strictly for local use in a very restricted enviroment only ...

true stuffs cant be exciting , it is a fact ...

i may get between 10 - 30 per month.

2 things to help cut it down:

1. spamcop get an account and USE it.

2. setup your own mail server and filter the spam at the server so the end users never see it. what little gets past spamassasin and DNSpoison should be roughly what i am getting and depending on how aggressive you are with your DNSpoison you can cut that down even further.

I never get spam, on any of my email accounts, except the ones I have set up TO get spam.

I have an email account I use for work.
I have an email account I use for friends and family.
I have an email account I use to sign up for websites and forums.
I have an email account I use when I know it will get me spam.

If you only give you email address to REAL people, then you will never get spam. If you post it on a website, or you sign up for some shady stuff, then you probably will get a ton of spam.

No spam. Unless it's an annoying e-card.

For the past several years I've been running an experiment. It actually works quite well and everyone I tell about it thinks its a good and unique way to deal with spam.
I've configured my own mail server (exim currently), and have it setup to change my "return address" depending on who I send email to. Therefore every individual gets their own email alias for me. These email aliases consist of random digits normally.

There are two main benefits to this.
First, when I get spam I know exactly who gave out my email address because only one individual or business knows that alias.
Second, I can stop the spam by removing one alias and don't have to change my email address for anyone else.

The best example so far to demonstrate the usefulness of the technique is my case against Newegg (the computer parts outfit).
A few months ago I started getting spam from PC Magazine, and it was to the alias I only used at www.newegg.com.
I emailed newegg customer support and they were very adamant that they do not give out addresses.
That may be true however I believe I proved it, perhaps an employee sold them out (money for email addresses).
I just disabled the offending alias and changed my email address with newegg and problem solved. Lets see if it happens again.

try not to do any online transactions if possible ... buy everything or call for services that you need *locally* ... generate the necessary demands and you will find that you are actually spending on yourself and it enhances the well-being of your community ...

can cut down on a lot of email spams and linux can spread a little bit faster in this way ...

That's very interesting, and I'd be willing to try this method. However, how do your ISP's servers know that eg: 457123450@yourISP.com should be forwarded to you@yourISP.com?

Yves.
