Anyone have some Android tablet experience to share?
 

So today I ordered an Asus Eee Transformer Prime android tablet with the keyboard dock and a cute leather case thingy. After I had sufficiently recovered from the horror of seeing myself click Place Order Now on 800 dollars worth of tablet/accessories, I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had any personal experience with this tablet or android tablets in general.

This is my first tablet although I've been an avid Android fan since the D2 was released. I plan to use it for work as much as for anything else, with spreadsheets and notes and such.

I plan on using most of the same apps on my tablet that I use on my phone. I have several paid apps that I'd rather not buy again if possible, so can I be fairly sure that most of them will work on my tablet just as well as they work on my phone? I know it isn't 100%, but from what I've read online its pretty close to 99% compatibility.

In general, how has your experience with Android tablets been? (For the record I absolutely hate Apple and so I'll never buy an iPad). Is the Transformer Prime (or other higher end tablets) worth the money?

Gday mate, i personally have zero experience. I listen to the Linux link tech show, podcast sometimes; and Linc, one of the host had a Motorola Xoom, A high regarded Android Tablet. He was so disappointed with it, he ended up returning it and buying an ipad2, and then came onto the Linux Link Tech Show, and announced that Android is not ready for the tablet yet.
I'm unaware of how far Android has progressed since, and i'm sure there will be other people who strongly disagree. I'm just filling you in on what i've heard, but personally don't use any tablet device.

I have a Nook Color(tm) that I use as a tablet with the N2A bootable micro-SD

What sort of questions do you have about "Android Tablet" use?

Mostly just looking for general experience. How much you like it vs a phone, whether you're happy with your tablet, etc.

I have a rather cheap tablet (brand Titán, model TR810, 8 inches display, Android 2.3.1), and I'm happy with it, although I barely use it (I use mostly my main computer, I honestly didn't need a tablet, so I bought for a whim ;)). I can't tell how is it compared to an Android phone, since I haven't used one, but I like the interface, the myriad of apps available for it and the nice functions it has. I use it to surf the web, mostly. The only thing I find uncomfortable is writing on the screen keyboard, since the wrong keys get activated very often, no matter if I press where it's supposed to be.

My tablet is wifi-only so I can't use it without access to some public wireless network. Most of the coffee shops and similar that I frequent have access points so that is not much of an issue.

That said, on the "workstation" side of things, I use it for web browsing and email and document review (I'm a writer). There are wonderful apps for mind mapping and "finger painting." Many tablets are designed for use with finger pointing and do not respond well to any sort of stylus. As a result, stylus writing or stylus drawing can be problematic. An electronic "legal pad" is my holy grail feature.
Yes, the iPad can do that, but I won't pay that much money when I get close for 1/3 the expense.

I've also got a large collection of e-Books. Both Nook and Kindle have android reader applications so I'm not hostage to any one commercial format. One can find
both text and PDF format books for free or nearly free all over the web as well.
There are other "readers" available with various features for library manager, e-Boot format, upload, download, and such.
