You do realise that by putting 'in detail' in bold red and size 7 (and caps, of course) is pretty damn irritating and if you go out of your way to do stuff like that, you lose, imho, any right to complain about other people doing things that irritate you? Ah, well..

...because both operating systems are FOSS....
Symbian has had something of a rocky time of late, with shipments of Symbian phones still at high numbers, but the trends for the future looking less than bright (if starting from a high level). Nokia has taken the project back in house and is winding down the Symbian foundation's role.

Nokia has committed to make the future development of the Symbian platform available to the ecosystem via an alternative direct and open model.
Does that mean it will still be open in the full, as-approved-by-Stallman, sense? Pass. They certainly don't seem to be depending on the community for their development of the OS itself, any more. But then, is that any different from Google/Android?
  • I like Symbian for the stability, the battery life, and the just-does-the-job nature. The availability of apps is less of a high point.
  • I like Android for the flexibility, the apps, the appearance and the more modern-ness generally. In touch screen phones, People often suggest that Symbian is starting to show its age, but my Symbian pre-dates touch screen (and I don't care about that). Unless Symbian can actually do something more dynamic with their ability to keep their system 'on trend' (whatever that means), they will become interesting history quite rapidly. At this point, it looks more like Android being the wave of the future, but bear in mind the 'Bohr limitation'

Prediction is always difficult, especially when it concerns the future.
I'll point out that both are a bit like having a 'tiny computer, with a phone attached', although they are different takes on the computer. I like this, but some people find that it is exactly the sort of thing that they don't want.

There was no 'both' option, so I vote 'Ballmer'..

Android, because it's made by Google and is Linux-based. It reminds me of a FOSS iPhone, and has a cool UI on some neat, powerful, innovative cell phones. I also think the advertisements for it are cool.

Android. More beautiful, friendly user interface, and a lot of software resource.

He shoulda used IMPACT to drive the point needlessly into our skulls.
