An error was occurred when it reveives mails by Outlook Express
When I was using Outlook Express to receive mails in Windows 2000 Pro, an error was occurred and displayed "plaintext authentication disabled". Therefore, I cannot receive mails from my Linux mail server. What does it mean and what should I do to solve the problm?
Later, I used pop3s to receive my mails (port 993/995) and shut down Linux firewall (iptables), but Outlook said that my password of root was incorrect? I am sure that my password is correct. Then I watched the log messages in /var/log/maillog
Feb 1 00:40:41 linux dovecot: Logins with UID 0 not permitted (user root)
Feb 1 00:40:41 linux dovecot: pop3-login: Internal login failure: root [::ffff:219.81.150.154]
Can somebody give me some suggestion?
OS: RHEL 4 WS
