Advice needed. I am planning to do freelancing in C/C++/Linux.
Dear All,
I am a C/C++/Linux/Assembly-language developer for 8 years now. I am planning to go for freelancing. Can you please suggest how to move ahead and what are the places where I can find good jobs in these areas? I tried some freelancing sites, but mostly we have web development works there. Are there places where works mostly in the above areas are found? Sincerely, Srinivas Nayak |
and you tried Google with the keywords freelance c++ projects, and
didn't get anything satisfactory? |
:-)
Many thanks. Obviously, when google fails to satisfy somebody, they come to ask people. After all, people are people and machine is machine! Do you believe, machines can answer better than you? Sincerely, Srinivas Nayak |

If you are looking for some specific work conditions (which are not satisfied in the following few sites), then please specify them. http://www.freelancer.in/jobs/CPlusPlus-Programming/ http://freelance.geekinterview.com/C-and-C http://www.onlinefreelancejobs.net/cc-jobs/ http://www.freelancerjobs.net/vworker/C-C-.html http://www.freelance.dbperl.com/free.../clanguage.php |
Truly, Google shows these links...
I am searching for the same for last 3 months and to be specifically today, full-day. The worrying part is, they are just there to attract the crowd...just somebody has put these key words there...which come up with google searches. Yes, special conditions...now you understood my problem. :-) I was looking for a reliable place where people want to get their job done. Mainly core programming task in C, C++, Linux. Not web development and not Windows development. Anyway, I do not say, I am looking for an exclusive C, C++, Linux Freelance job site, mixed with other jobs is not a problem. However, i was looking for places where real freelancers go specifically those from these back grounds, where reliable clients and contractors meet, good engineering work gets done. I am grateful for your help. Sincerely, Srinivas Nayak |

you searched, and what exactly did not satisfy you (in the first post itself). It wastes less time, both for the asker and well as the helper. :-) Quote:

They didn't reply? You worked for them, and they didn't pay? They didn't agree to sign a contract? What happened? Quote:

Perhaps someone who has actually worked on a freelance project online, might be able to help you. |

Most of the C++ works I found in elance/odesk/vworker etc are either college student's homework or overoptimistic employer's (to get the work done by 2 days for $10 :-) ). Quote:

thread: http://programmers.stackexchange.com...reelancer-jobs Try contacting the fellow named SigTerm from this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...cation-916073/ He is very knowledgeable and experienced person. He's not active on LQ anymore, and I am not sure if he'll respond to your query - but there's no harm in trying. |
Have you considered getting a recruiter?
I suspect that a lot of freelance C/C++/ASM jobs will be advertised as engineering jobs, not as computer programming jobs. For example, a person contracted to design a phone for elevators might also required to write its firmware. And regarding SigTerm, the only time I ever saw him post on programmers.stackexchange.com, he was asking the same thing the OP did. The question's since been removed. |
