A funny linux screensaver for Windows
I made a little something to install on your Microsoft O/S at work, or wherever else you are forced to use it:
BSOD Screensaver, http://www.asktoby.com (at the top). This Windows screensaver pretends to cause a BSOD, "re-boots", and installs linux in disgust! ...well it beats Mystify.scr, anyway :) Enjoy. Toby. |
Moved: More suitable in General as this is not a question in regards to Linux or is it technical. Regards.

i couldnt be bothered downloading but its a pretty funny idea. good stuff.

I bothered. Cute!

ha ha, that's cool.....
is there a way to slow it down a little, so it does not play as fast?? I've got a Good hex editor, not sure where to look in the code......thx |
trickykid: Thanks for moving the thread, I wasn't sure where to put it.
320mb: I could re-compile it to slow it down, but I personally like it fast. Two reasons:

Increases the longevity of the screensaver - you'll have to watch it a few times to read everything :)
I'm expecting lots of "the system summary doesn't match the POST readout" type replies, and making it too fast to read will delay those for a short while!
|
Hey, no prob! I like it any way.....thx
|
320mb - Hope you don't mind, I've quoted your "ha ha, that's cool....." comment on the page now.
|
Can it be viewed on a Mac? Great idea!!
|
xscreensaver version?

Unfortunately I don't have a Mac to develop on, so no Mac Version.
An xscreensaver version would be a little silly, since the whole joke is that it detects a Microsoft O/S and replaces it in disgust :) I'm ever so glad people are finding it funny - Anyone know any appropriate places I should submit it to? |
download.com
oh, and www.nonags.com Its the best freeware site for windows that I know (and I refuse to use shareware and crack it. freeware or nowhere - not that I have a lot of use for it now...) |
Just FYI - I've updated it to v1.1 - the screenie now loops and you get to watch a very special guest bumbling around at the console :D
