[SOLVED] How to copy files from VirtualBox guest to host?

I have 32-bit Ubuntu running as a VirtualBox guest, and it has some files that I want to copy to the 64-bit Arch Linux host.

How do I do that? As far as I know Shared Folders copy from host to guest, ir is that not so?

VBox shared folders work both ways AFAIK. :-\

EDIT: never mind, it's read-only.

I am to lazy to configure the shared folders, so normally I use rsync for that. Just copy your files with rsync like you would do with physical machines on a network.

It works both ways for me (with Ubuntu and Debian as hosts and Win XP as guest, at least). When you created the shared directory, did you check that it was not read-only? Take a look at my screenshot.

Hm, it doesn't seem to work here with an Arch host and an Ubuntu Natty guest. I made absolute sure that the permissions for the shared dir were "Full", and yet:

Code:
mrcode@nattyvm:~$ sudo mount -t vboxsf Pictures /mnt/vboxshared
[sudo] password for mrcode:
mrcode@nattyvm:~$ cd /mnt/vboxshared
mrcode@nattyvm:/mnt/vboxshared$ touch file
touch: cannot touch `file': Permission denied
mrcode@nattyvm:/mnt/vboxshared$

I'm thinking it might have to do with host permissions on my end, though.

EDIT: Nope, not even chmodding the host directory to be mounted in the guest to 777 will let me write into it.

Also, shouldn't this be in one of the technical forums, like Linux - Virtualization?

I tried it and Shared Folders did work.

This is where I would mark the thread as solved, but apperantly the General forum doen't have this feature.

EDIT: I edited the title to say [SOLVED] instead.
