*SIREN* read this before posting in general *SIREN*

If you are reading this, you are on the right path. Failure to read
this notice makes it very likely that your thread will be closed with
or without comment.

The moderation team has been having frank and open discussions about the quality of posts and threads in General. And we're not happy. In fact, we're more than a little disgruntled. There have been far too many posts that are clearly braindumps and are not constructive. That is what your LQ blog is for.

To make life easier on everyone EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY we are adding another rule to the LQ Rules. The new rule will only affect the General forum and we do not want to see leakage into the real forums as a means of circumventing this rule (see also LQ Rule #10):
Rule #0: your post may be closed without warning and for good reason by a moderator.

How does this affect you? Well, take for example, Thursday. That is
what is known as a good reason under new Rule #0. If we're having a
bad day, don't like your first sentence or just plain feel like it, we
will close your thread. We may even make reference to your habit of
wearing odd socks when closing your thread.

Since General will now be, effectively, a dictatorship, we need you to
take extra care when crafting your thread or post. Try to avoid
falling foul of Rule #0.

To reiterate, Rule #0 is in force EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
