Redhat 7.3 to FC 3
Hello everyone,
I need your help to find out if my idea is feasible.
The network I have to look after has a Redhat LINUX 7.3 (Valhalla) system running with all the custom proxyserver, mailserver and firewallsetting stored in it.
Up to now I only accessed and administred the Linux box over a HTML frontend called "webmin", therefor my Linux skills are somehow limited.
My questions:
1.) Is it possible to upgrade to Fedora Core 3 from a system as old as this at once or do I have to go 7.3 -> 8 -> 9 -> FC 1 -> FC 2 -> FC 3
2.) If it is possible to do the update at once (that means 7.3 -> FC 3) will the settings be kept or do I have to reconfigure everything?
3.) Is the upgrade done by simply booting the FC3-CD and hit on the "upgrade"-button or is it more difficult?
4.) In any case, which (open-source) program do you recommend to make a full harddrive image so that I can go back to 7.3 just in case it does not work?
OK, I'm sure this will bevome a longer thread, but possibly you are willing to assist anyway?
Thanks
Robert
