Promise ATA66 Controller install issue...

I've posted in the software forums concerning an error I get when trying to upgrade my current Redhat 9 distro to Fedora Core 1. The issue is it read my software RAID running off of a Promise ATA66 Controller (/home) and says the drives aren't formated. I believe that the problem is that the installer doesn't recognize the card correctly. Anyone seen this before? My Redhat 9 works fine.

If it's a driver issue; how do I load drivers before I start running the setup booting off CD?

=====
Post revised:

Ok, so I've remounted /home on the main drive. Complete removed the Promise card out of the equation. I can get past the original error of not being able recognize the /home on md0 as a formated disk. So problems solved. That one anyway.

2 - ok, so it goes in and starts the install - gets to copying install image to disk, and get's about 85% done or so and stops. Error copying install image, you possibly have run out of drive space. Now I've seen others talk of this same problem; one used linux ide=nodma for install and that worked; but it didn't work for me. Another changed memory.. haven't tried that yet but I don't see that being the problem since I havn't had a problem before.

Ideas?

3 - If I do a fresh install how is the best way to back up all information and then dump it back without having to reinstall everything?

Problem solved a long time ago... :)

I believe the problem ended up being a disc image problem. I redownloaded the cd images and reburned them at a slower speed and it worked fine. The driver issue was avoided by doing the initial install plain jane, then adding the ATA card. I let it detect and install the card, and after that it saw the drives. Re-mounted as /home directories and .. bingo....

As far as the fresh install goes; I just backed up my .conf files to the appropriate programs. Copied them back once the system was back up .... no problem.

I have learned that doing it once, twice, then screwing it up and doing it again is a good way to learn hehehehehehe I've gotten a lot better at this stuff than when I first started but I'm still learning.
