well, you can always try an installation without the disk check

however, it sounds like the disks are bad...

When the FC3 CD first starts up you are at a screen that asks you want to do before continuing. What needs to be typed to get FC3 onto the system before you configure for apm and acpi is for you to type the following first:

Code:
linux acpi=off apm=off
and then press enter. If the install still goes black after checking the CD then there's something wrong with the ISO's you burned.

But how do you know this - the check completed and said they were OK "beginning installation"?

Did you try

Have you read the faq in Fedora Forum ?

Is this a D610 or F610?

in your title you say you have D610 and here you say F610 - the difference may be important.

As to the question... what to you need the driver for?
AFAIK, you don't need a special driver to install linux on a dell laptop - only the ability to boot from CD or DVD and linux compatible architecture.

Is this still what you are trying to do? If you have solved the previously stated problems, please let us know so we can think about other things and so others can see what you did that worked. If not, then I guess there must be a good reason for ignoring the reasonable and sound requests for more info. which you don't want us to know about???

Did you follow the ACPI howto in the LQ.org wiki section and/or tutorial section ?

What about my link in my signature for Linux On Laptops... did you give that a whirl?

I had to download and use the FC4 DVD image to get my D610 working. All the downloads of the CD images failed to check using multiple sources for the files, and multiple CD burners. I gave up and bought a DVD burner and that worked great. Also, the 'sum *FC4' showed that ALL the images I downloaded were the same. For each disk that is.

Dell Latitude D610

I install Fedora Core 1 (I need a 2.4 kernel) on my Dell laptop. I thought nothing was working too. Turns out the video doesn't automatically set. If I plug in an external monitor and switch the laptop between CRT/LCD (Fn F8), the video displays correctly. At this point I can switch the display input (Fn F8), unplug the monitor and proceed as normal. If I reboot, same problem...haven't figured that out yet.
