Partitions problems

Hi to all :)

I'm a newbie so never used Linux before... I tried first to install Red Hat 6.2 but it didn't work coz when booting from diskette after installation it appeared to me the msg "Error 0x01" which I was unable to sort out in any ways

So I decided to install Fedora Core 4... downloaded all 4 .iso files, checked it with sha1sum and tried to install but couldn't because installation process is unable to create partitions (neither automatically or manually  ).

The machine I wanted to install linux in is a Pentium II 333 MhZ with a 2.4 gb hdd FAT32 not partitioned (+ the installation process tells me there are 4 mb of free space) and 256 mb RAM.

Thanks in advance and sorry if I asked silly questions :(

If you don't know a thing about Linux try Knoppix first as a Live CD, later on run an installation of Knoppix, and last, install a 'real' distribution of choice.

Take your time playing with it. Linux can be really confusing at first.

For the Fedora installation to work, you may have to delete the empty FAT partition using the Fedora partitioning tools and then create an ext3 partition from the resulting free space.
