nouveau

Does Fed 13 use nouveau graphics controller as default? I don't have good experience with nouveau, and prefer nvidia's own module, even if it isn't Open Source.

I am just going to upgrade, but don't want any disasters!

You can always install the official nvidia driver after upgrading. It may even be available using the package manager

I believe I read that nvidia site has a one click install for nvidia drivers. I have not had experience with it but would save time from not having to blacklist nouveau drivers. I can not find the link to nvidia but here is a link to check.

nvidia drivers

Thanks, I'm going to try to upgrade. You guys seem to assume that I will have a graphical interface afterwards. I have had some unpleasant experiences, which makes me nervous! In Fed 12, I was advised to blacklist nouveau and install the proprietary nvidia drivers. Still can't get compiz to work!

I do not know if I read in a LXer Bulletin or where but nvidia has made a one click install for their proprietary drivers. I will keep searching and if I can find it again will post back.

Sorry just came across the link and it was for a different rpm distro.

Well, no go!

I get as far as 'loading anaconda' but there everything stops. Anacondas might be big, but it don't take half an hour to load 'em. I ran preupgrade twice, but this was the result.
