New connection set up OK but where do I enter my ISP login user name and password?

I've put Fedora 14 on an Acer Aspire notebook with Thompson Speedtouch 536 DSL modem connected via USB. The 'Wired network connection' shows as active but will not connect to my ISP. How can I set up my ISP user name and password.

Back when I was using DSL, I had to set up my DSL modem via the provided Windows program, then I could insert my router between the DSL modem and the computer and connect via Windows or Linux

why don't you use a router and add the ISP setting directly to the router... this would make your life easier
