I tried to install FC4 64 bit on my system, but it hang on me...
it hang when running /sbin/loader
so i tried with "linux noprobe" parameter, it works but as soon as i tried to boot it for the very first time it hang again after the audio driver init...i'm so confused, i'm a newbie at this...so can anybody help me ??
BTW : my system is a AMD64 3000+ with a DFI LP UT 250 GB and 512 mb RAM
PS : sorry i can't relate the details very clearly, i'm really new to linux...
I am experiencing the same problem. At work I got a box with dual AMD 64 bit opterons and the cds wont boot. See if typing this at the boot prompt works:
linux rescue ro rhgb rhgb quiet
I was able to get into the rescue mode with that. Still couldnt install with a kickstart file though. Got a kernal panic, saying it couldint find a volume or something.
Someone I know figured it out: at the boot prompt, type whatever you want. then, when it tries to boot and then, when you get the error message, type the parameters you want to use or just hit enter, and I am told the installation will proceed. Supposedly this is an issued with fedora, opterons and sata drives. I haven't done this myself, except maybe accidentally.
@icegrill :
i've tried it...it still doesn't work...if i use the parameter "linux noprobe", i could install the linux but it hangs init the sound driver at booting...i'm soo confused...
I had the same issue. The install would hang on /sbin/loader...... I had a USB hub (Apple Cinema Display) plugged in, I unplugged it and pluged my mouse into the MB and like magic it works now. Just my experience.
